League Match
Shaw vs Bonnygate
0- 6
The second from last league match of the season saw Shaw hosting Bonnygate. Shaw held on for much of the 1st half with constant pressure from Bonnygate. They eventually scored at the end of the first half. Going into the second half Shaw looked like they might have equaled the score with Ansah having some shots on target. Unfortunately Shaw's defence could not hold Bonnygate back for much longer and they scored 5 past us in the second half. There was a fantastic effort from Freddie in goal who kept Bonnygate from scoring even more. Well done to Freddie for being Man of the Match and thank you to everyone who played and came to watch.
Dilkes vs Shaw
League Match
2 - 1
This week Shaw headed over to Dilkes to play a league match. This was a very tight game with both teams defending well. Dilkes then took the lead which they held on to for much of the match. A well taken goal by Ansah brought it back to 1-1 but then Dilkes scored soon after. The match ended 2-1 to Dilkes. Well done all who played and thank you to the parents for your support.
Shaw vs Somers Heath
League Match
0-4
Today Shaw took on Somers Heath at home. It was a tricky match with both teams playing well across the park. Somers Heath took the lead in the 1st half and continued to pressurise the Shaw goal throughout the game. Somers Heath went on to win 4 -0 but Shaw never gave up and worked well as a team.
Thursday 30th November
Aveley vs Shaw - League Match
This evening Shaw played their first league match of the season. They travelled to Aveley to play in freezing conditions and played superbly across the pitch. There was some fantastic passing in midfield and great defending to keep Aveley at bay. The first half ended 2-0 to Shaw with Ellis and Ansah scoring 2 great goals. Aveley scored in the second half to make it 2-1 but a fantastic corner by Charlie saw Callum head home goal number 3. Well done on our first win of the season and player of the match was Lukas for being a great goalie!
(We also debuted our brand new kit this evening.)

By the last 3 matches the team had grown in confidence, begun scoring goals each match and defended well as a unit. In the end we lost 3 matches and drew 3 against some of the top teams in Essex. A massive well done to all those who played.

Shaw vs Kenningtons
Thursday 1st December
Our last game of 2016 was against Kenningtons who are currently top of the league. Today was Shaw's turn to score first with a great pass out of goal by Edward and a well taken goal by Freddie. Shaw held the lead for 5 minutes but Kenningtons managed to score in the last minute of the 1st half making the score 1-1. Once again Shaw showed fantastic fighting spirit to keep out the attacks of Kenningtons and some excellent defending from the whole team kept them out for some of the 2nd half. Shaw weren't able to put away their chances and Kenningtons were, meaning they scored a further 2 goals and took the win. Well done everyone involved today.

Man of the Match: Freddie (chosen by the team)
Football League Match
Aveley vs Shaw
Thursday 17th November 2016
Shaw worked on their defending in training this week and this showed in a much improved match against Aveley. Shaw were strong in their tackles and worked hard to clear to ball from danger. All round great play by the defence this week kept the goals scored against us down to a minimum.
This week also saw us have a lot more chances in attack with a lots of our shots cleared off the line by Aveley. Harry Mitchell played some excellent through balls and Ellis made some positive forward runs to create lots of shooting chances. Well done to Merlin who volunteered to go in goal for the second half.
A confidence boosting match this week. Well done everyone!

Shaw vs Somers Heath
This week Shaw took on a strong Somers Heath team in our first home match of the season. Shaw had some good chances in both halves but were unable to put their chances away. This week the team travelled to Bulphan in their latest league match. Despite going down 2-0 in the first half Shaw showed an amazing fighting spirit once again with some great defending by Ben and Callum. Olsi was also in top form in goal where he stopped lots of good shots from Bulphan.
The second half started brighter for Shaw with some excellent defending again from Callum who marked his player and put in some great tackles. Soon Shaw begun to play with much more confidence and a great goal from Edward put us back in the running. Edward then scored again to make it 2-2. For the rest of the half some excellent play from Ansah, Ellis and Freddie in midfield meant that we stayed at 2-2 until the last minute of the match where a pass was intercepted and a Bulphan player ran on to score making it 3-2 with only 30 seconds remaining.
A much improved performance from all today! Well done everyone.

Dilkes vs Shaw
Shaw had a tough opening league match this week against a strong Dilkes side. It was hard going in the first half with Dilkes attacking for the majority of the half. Some great tackles by Ciaran and Mark ensured we didn't concede a lot more goals. The score was 5-0 to Dilkes in the first half.
The second half was a much stronger performance by Shaw who showed fantastic fighting spirit to win the ball back from Dilkes and make some attacks of their own. Shaw kept their shape and defended as a team. The best chance came from Ansah who was one on one with the keeper but unfortunately hit the post!
A great learning game for all involved who had lots of fun playing in their first league match for the school.
Well done everyone!!!!
