Orsett Cricket Club
Today Miss. Drake took 10 year 5 and 6 boys to Orsett Cricket Club to play in our second Kwik Cricket Tournament of the week. The team played against some very tough competition but showed fantastic determination to gain lots of runs and catch out the other teams. As they played each game the bowling, batting and fielding techniques really improved and we learned lots about the game of cricket. Well done to all involved; you did your school proud!

Girls Kwik Cricket
Orsett Cricket Club
Today 9 girls visited Orsett Cricket Club to take part in a kwik cricket competition. They have been practicing lots in PE with Miss. Warwick. The girls played their first ever cricket matches against 3 other schools throughout the day. They scored lots of runs and even managed to catch one of the other schools out! They learned lots about cricket and had a great day. Well done to everyone who took part!

KS1 Quad Kids
Today Miss. Warwick and Miss. Ridley took 8 year 1's and 2's to Blackshots to take part in an athletics event. Each of the children took part in 4 different events - long distance running, sprinting, throwing and standing long jump. Each of the children tried their very best at all of the events and worked as a fantastic team. Well done to all the children who took part!
Friday 9th December 2016
Today 8 year 6 children visited Hassenbrook Secondary School to take part in a dodgeball competition. The competition saw us play against 4 other schools in the group stages; we had some very tough matches against the other schools and played our socks off. We had 1 loss and 2 draws under out belts going into the last match. This was a hard fought match against Purfleet which we went on to win. This pushed us to 2nd place in the group. We did not make it through to the finals as you had to come 1st but we gave it our all and worked hard for each other!

The Gateway Academy
Today Shaw attended their first competitive basketball competition after a term of learning about the game in PE. 10 year 6 children arrived at the Gateway ready to show off their new skills. Shaw won their first match 4-0 with the next few matches against some strong sides. Unfortunately we didn't come away with a win but we scored plenty of baskets and defending really well. Overall we placed 4th in the group!
A massive well done to everyone who played!

This week 44 children visited Blackshots on a cold and windy day to take part in the Key Stage 2 Cross Country event. Everyone who participated tried their very hardest to complete the long distance course as they raced against over 100 other children. It was tough going but we had some children finish in high positions within the top 25 and the top 50! Well done to all that took part and thank you to the staff and parents who came to help out!

Tag Rugby Tournament
Thurrock Rugby Club
This week Shaw took part in first ever Tag Rugby Tournament which took place at Thurrock Rugby Club. This was another fantastic opportunity to learn a new sport at school and take part in a sporting competition. There was some tough matches to be played in the group stages but as the tournament progressed the team became stronger and we begun to use the pace of Merlin, Edward and Ansah to our advantage. There was some good defending from Shaw and all involved has a great day out (even if it was freezing!).

Boys Football Tournament
This week saw the turn of the boys to take part in a football tournament at St. Cleres. There was some great team work and a stand out performance from Mark in goal. Unfortunately we did not make it through to the final rounds but a massive well done to all involved today.

Girls Football Tournament at St. Clere's Secondary School.
This week 8 girls attended their first ever football tournament. They played 3 teams from different schools and all gave 100% for their team! They had a brilliant afternoon playing football despite not going through to the finals.
Well done to all involved!

2015 - 2016
West Ham Football Tournament
On Monday after school the football team played in a tournament organised by West Ham at St Clere’s School. They played really well, despite the freezing conditions winning 2 games, drawing 2 and losing just 1. Over the 5 matches we scored 4 goals – 2 from Kaelan and 2 from Tobi. They came joint 2nd in their Round Robin group narrowly missing out on the chance to progress further. There was no Man of the Tournament as everyone played fantastically well so it was awarded to the whole team. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
KS2 Cross Country
Thursday 26th November 2015
48 Children were selected to represent Shaw Primary Academy in the KS2 Cross country event held at Blackshots. Every child who attend gave it their all and many children finished in high ranking places. Each race had over 100 entrants with Year 3 and 4 running 1000m and year 5 and 6 running 1500m. It was a tough race but congratulations to all those who took part!

A group of children attended a Dodgeball competition held at St. Clere's secondary school where they battled hard against 6 other teams in their group. The children worked really hard as a team and won lots of their matches which lasted 2 minutes each. They worked tirelessly to earn 4th place in the group. Well done all who participated.
This week 54 children went along to Blackshots Athletics track to compete in the Borough Olympics in Track and Field events. We had an amazing day where lots of children came home with a medal and others trying their very best for their school.
We came 2nd in the track events and 3rd in the field events meaning we came in 4th overall on the day! What an wonderful achievement for all involved...well done everyone!
SSP Sports Awards Evening
Our netball team attending the very firs Thurrock SSP Sports Awards Evening last night where they collected their trophy for coming runners up in the Netball League. Taliya was also nominated for an award to celebrate her many sporting achievements throughout the year! Thank you all for attending such a lovely evening.
