DT- Mechanical Posters
As part of Design and Technology this term, we researched, created prototypes, designed and made our own mechanical posters. Our posters were based on a theme all about Recycling, we worked hard with these posters and made sure we had moving parts using a pulley lever system!
SCIENCE
As part of our new unit, Forces, we have been experimenting with magnets in the classroom and having a go at some fun in class experiments. Take a look at what we got up to yesterday with finding magnetic materials and testing how many paperclips we can hold in a chain!
ART - This term we have been looking at Art based on Autumnal settings and focussing on leaves. Today, we went around the school and collected a few leaves as inspiration. We then used different mediums of art to add colour which included crayons, pencils, chalk and pens. Take a look at our lovely lesson where we drew leaves and added detail through colour!
SCIENCE
In Science this term we will be learning a little more about light. Today, we had a real FUN lesson. First, we experimented with how light reflected through different surfaces and how different colours may change the way we see things. We made our own class fort and used torches as our source of light. Once we had completed our experiment, we had a little fun too! Take a look :)
Printing in Art.
This week, we developed our skills further and created our very own prints based on our prior learning from the weeks before. We looked back and remembered drawing basic leaves which we then applied onto our own printing tile. Take a look at our lesson, we had such a great time with only a little mess!
World Book Week!
This week in 3G, we will be celebrating world book week and taking part in different activities to raise the profile of reading. Today, we visited our library bus and the children rented a book for the week where they will read in class during their own time. Below is a link for the website all about World Book Day, lots of lovely activities and a range of free audiobooks!
We recently went on our local walk around South Ockendon and we took our class bear, Beary Bear, with us. The children were able to see the different features of the local town, follow a route and recognise road signs. Take a look at the pictures below!
This week in our Art lesson, we learnt about the artist Howard Hodgkin and focussed on portraits. The children then invited Fry into our class to use him as a live model and painted him as a portrait!
