Year 4 Times Table Check

We are using this website in class, it allows the children to:

 - practice each multiplication table on 'Speed Test'

 - complete the mixed test on 'Multiplication Tables Check'

 - play a variety of multiplication games. 

Our Topic in the Summer Term is...

WORLD WAR 2

 

 

Make a Smoothie at home! Our children know how to make this now.

In DT we have been learning how to make and cook healthy food. We made a strawberry and banana smoothie. Some of the children enjoyed making it but didn't like the taste so much.

In the Summer Term, we have been learning about categorising in Science. We made branching databases as a way to help us categorise.

In the Summer Term, we have been creating peppers made out of clay.

In Science, We made our own Buzz Games using our electrical knowledge of circuits.

Our topic for the Spring Term 2022-2023 is...

 

'Ancient Maya' 

In Year 2 we learnt about dinosaurs, Neil Armstrong and the moon landing. In Year 3 we learnt about The Romans and The Egyptians. In Year 4 we are going to be learning about Ancient Maya: how they lived, worshipped and built their cities.

WORLD BOOK DAY 2023

In Science (Spring 2) We are learning about electricity

In Science (Spring Term 1) we have been learning about Sound. We made ear defenders and tested the best material to block sound. We made our ear defenders for Fry; to help him when places around the school get a little too noisy. Fry chose his favourite ear defenders on each table and then he chose from the finalists. He chose Rosie's ear defenders made from a lot of cotton wool and felt wrapped with a pink bow. We hope they help him!

In Art (Spring Term 1) We have been learning a ‘Bodies’ themed unit and focusing on how to use pen, charcoal, felt tips to draw body shapes and figures, make maquettes,and sculpt Giacometti-inspired models to create quality artwork. In Year 5, they will build on their knowledge in Art and learn how to use pen, charcoal, felt tips to draw facial features in detail. Below are pictures of our maquettes. We made the body shapes with wire and clay.

In Art we have been making pictures using charcoal for light and dark

In Maths we have been looking at area and perimeter and made our own compound shapes

In Music we have been learning to compose and add texture to a song

'Around Europe in 72 Days' 

Science - Teeth Lesson 1 We made a model of our own teeth using clay!

In Art this week, we made paper hats like Artist Coco Chanel. We made ours out of recycled newspapers and spoke about recycling materials too.

English - Poetry

This term we have been focusing on imagery. We have explored how poems use expanded noun phrases, prepositions, adverbials, similes and metaphors to create powerful images. We have been collecting ideas and working on developing our ideas using the techniques. As a result we have  created our own wonderful poems using all the techniques we have learnt.  

PE.

We have being undertaking 'Outdoor Adventure Activities'. We are developing our problem-solving skills whilst working in small teams, and acquiring new leadership skills. We are learning how to navigate around both a familiar and unfamiliar space, whilst developing basic map-reading skills. Alongside this we are also develop fundamental skills such as agility, balance and coordination.

 

We are working on our teamwork skills - working together, communication, , role during a task. This also required us to  

  • work well as part of a team,
  • complete an obstacle course;
  • communicate effectively with others;
