We are in the Summer Term now and enjoying the last term together as Year 4's! This term we have been learning about the Vikings and Anglo Saxons in Topic our PE lessons are Mondays (indoor) and Fridays (outdoor).
Make sure you are reading regularly, practising your spellings and bringing in a water bottle to school every day!

Roots to Food Workshop.
We were incredibly lucky to have a special guest join us one afternoon last week. We learnt how to prapare and chop ingredients and safely cook them. We had to make sure we followed instructions to keep ourselves safe in the kitchen! Take a look below!

Summer Term
In English, we have been reading How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell and the children have been looking into the authors style and using their inference skills to predict the future of the book as well as characters feelings, thoughts and motives. This is end in the children writing their very own chapter of the book and sharing with their classmates. In Maths, we have been experimenting with data handling and putting data into bar and time graphs. This week, the children will be creating a graph using their own data retrieved from surveys!
We were also incredibly lucky to have an external coach in to teach Archery! The children loved it and each and every one of them were focussed and concentrated when aiming for the targets and learning how to use the equipment safely and effectively!
Dance Festival.
As part of our upcoming dance festival in school, the children have been busy learning a new dance. Have a go and practice at home if you want to!

Science - Electricity.
For our topic of Electricity in Science, the children got the opportunity to get hands on with some scientific equipment and started to make a circuit. They worked well as teams to get the lightbulb to light up, using all the components they were given!
Performance Poetry
As part of National Poetry Day, the children had the opportunity to look at a range of poems and poets and begin to understand the meaning. They then had the chance to perform their poem using actions, facial expressions and emotions.

Art
As part of our Art during the first half of the Autumn term, the children worked over the weeks to evaluate, research, design and produce their own African print. As you can see there were a range of unique prints with a reason behind each colour, pattern and print. The children really enjoyed making these and understanding the culture behind them!
