Welcome to the Summer term. Our topic this term is The Tudors and we have already been very busy sewing money containers, learning Tudor dance, singing, playing the glockenspiel and being coached in American Football. We have still got lots to look forward to.
In D and T this term we have been designing and making Tudor money containers. We had to fit the design brief we were given and very much enjoyed learning sewing skills. Here are some pictures of us in action.

National Storytelling Week
We thoroughly enjoyed National Storytelling Week. We took part in a range of storytelling activities. We ended the week with a visit to the school library. We were even allowed to visit the library during lunch. Not only did we tell well known stories we already knew, we made up many of our own. There are some future authors in 4S!
Here are some pictures from the week.
The Earth
Our topic this Spring term is The Earth. So far we have learned about the layers of the earth, how earthquakes happen and how v and u shaped valleys are formed. We have got plenty more learning to keep us busy!!
As part of our homework we have extended our learning and been able to learn more about natural disasters that happen around the world all the time.
PSHE
In PSHE we have set ourselves goals to achieve next half term. We have been learning about how to overcome barriers when trying to reach a goal and how to keep ourselves going when we feel like giving up. We are going to use this learning to help us achieve our personal goals. Check back here at the end of the next half term to see if we achieved our goals.
ICT
This term you have all been making music using digital technology. We have used Isle of Tune in class. Visit the website below to make some of your own music at home using your learning.

Musicians - We have been learning to play the glockenspiel!
Team Players
In PE this term we have been learning how to work well as a team to complete outdoor activities and challenges. We have all been very successful in working together in teams, listening to each other, encouraging each other and working together.
Beacon Hill
We have been working with children from Beacon Hill this term. They have visited us every Wednesday and we have completed lots of activities around the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We have made our own caterpillars, tasted lots of the foods the caterpillar did and made beautiful butterflies. We have very much enjoyed making new friends with the Beacon Hill children. Now, it is our turn to visit their school and each week a group of us are visiting their school to complete some activities.

Toy Making
Last term we learnt all about Victorian toys and made some of our own. Although we love the toys and games we have nowadays, we did enjoy making playing the Victorian toys.
Parliament Week
We all took part in parliament week, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We learnt about how our country is run and the impact that we can have on our own and others futures. Even as part of Shaw Primary Academy, some of the principles apply as we elect our own school council representatives, have weekly class council meetings and are continually playing a major part in the running of our school. Here are some pictures of our debates on some hot topics.
