Science Week 2024: The theme for this year was 'Time'. We were having lots of fun throughout the week exploring this concept in Science. Here we were measuring reaction times.

History - exploring similarities and differences between periods of time.

In Topic this week, we explored the similarities and differences between a Roman villa and a modern day home. We researched a Roman villa and completed an electronic task on the laptops comparing the two periods of history. Take a look at some examples!

Science- We have been exploring the scientific concept on refraction and how images can be distorted when light shines through a transparent surface. We made our own predictions and carried out a mini investigation to test our theories

Art- Seaside

We have started to explore using fine line to add detail to some fish and shells and then moved onto mixing and building on crayons to create different shade and tone.  We are building up to a final piece where will will apply these new skills.

Art- Finish pieces: Take a look at our project we have been working on over the past 3 weeks! We took inspiration from our artist of the term; Alfred Wallis and created our own individual pieces of art. Over the 3 weeks the children: created a water based background using appropriate colour, created texture with tissue paper and made our own prints of fish and shells to print over our artwork.

Art - Clay Monkeys

As part of our unit about Mexican artists, the children looked at models of monkeys and recreated them in the form of sculpting. We had a great time looking at artwork for inspiration and recreating our own interpretations!

DT- Marble Runs

In DT, we are going to be designing and creating our own Marble Runs this half term. To start with, we were challenged to create the tallest free-standing structures in groups using toilet roll and any joining materials we wanted. We had lots of fun and all worked together as a team! We were able to identify some of the things that we went and areas we would improve when we design our own. Take a look at the first step in our learning journey so far.

Creating our Marble Run final pieces

English- Our final poems we created in English to support the Black Lives Matter movement
