Our History unit for Summer Term is Toys
Our History topic for this term is "The History of Toys" where we aim to answer the question "What can toys tell us about history?"
We are starting our topic this half term by inviting children to bring in a toy of their choice from home (no electronics or games consoles please) so that we can explore a range of toys and get excited for our new topic. We will then be looking at sequencing some toys through different time periods such as the Victorian times and thinking about what toys would be played with during the eras we have already learnt about such as the great fire of London. We will then move onto looking at sources to find out about real toys from Victorian and World War II as well as finding out about toys from some very exciting "visitors".
AUTUMN
This term we will be learning about the UK.
In Autumn 1, we will be focussing on our local area
and going on a local walk to explore South Ockendon.
In Autumn 2, we are expanding our knowledge of the UK, looking at the four countries that make up the
UK and their capitals.
