Maths Units we will be studying this term:

Negative Numbers

Converting Units

Volume

We are currently learning about volume. We are counting cubes to work out volume before we learn to apply our multiplication skills to calculate.

We learned about converting different units such as kilometers to kilograms. We learned how to convert these units into metric and imperial units. We finished this unit by converting units of time and calculating timetables.

We have learned about decimals. We have learned about decimals to 3 decimal places. Then we used our knowledge of number bonds alongside decimal place value to add, subtract and multiply decimal numbers. We solved word problems using this knowledge.

We have learned about angles and turns. We now know how to identify different angles as well as measure them using protractors. We have learned to calculate angles around a point and on a straight line. We have been working out missing angles in 2D shapes.

We have learned about statistics. We learned to read line graphs and different tables, including timetables. We also learned to plot information on line graphs which have different scales. By the end of this unit we could use these skills in science as part of our investigations.

We have  learned about perimeter and area. By the end of this unit we are be able to use formulae to calculate these efficiently and accurately and to solve related problems.

We have learnt about the relationships between decimals, fractions and percentages. But the end of this unit we were able to use those relationships to solve problems.

We have finished learning about fractions, building on our learning from last term. We have learned how to multiply mixed fractions and to find fractions of amounts.

We started the spring term by looking at both the long and short methods for both multiplication and division which we then used to solve a multitude of problems. We then used our times tables that we have learnt in previous years to help us with this.
