We all wore green to school to mark Children's mental health week. In nursery we talked about what makes us happy and what we are all good at. The children could identify their own strengths and emotions. We made a happiness 'potion' and a colourful paper chain that are on display in our reading area.
We love reading stories in nursery but this week we have focussed lots on information books. The children have been very interested in finding out about animals that live under the sea, especially in coral reefs and so we borrowed some books from the school library so that we could explore them some more and find out lots of amazing facts. Did you know that there are over 1,500 different species of fish living in the Great Barrier Reef?
In our music lessons, we have been listening to music from around the world in lots of different genres. We watched a video of some drummers from Trinidad and took inspiration from them by using drums and maracas. We enjoyed composing our own rhythms with the instruments and with our voices too.
As part of our topic, we have been comparing hot places and cold places. We made some ice and the children predicted what they thought would happen to it if we left the ice in various places inside and outside. We had lots of fun watching the ice melt.
