Autumn term 

English

We wrote our own Goth Girl inspired stories at the end of the unit. We tried to apply our knowledge of writing speech, relative clauses and expanded noun phrases.

Here is the beginning one of our stories.

Ada Goth sat up from her dining chair, leaving her food behind. There it was again. A distant thud thud thud at the front door of Ghastly Gorm Hall. Her father, Lord Goth, opened the enormous entry doors. Ada ran to the hallway, feeling curious and burning with curiosity. She decided to spy by the front door. Making sure no-one saw her, Ada crept behind her father, listening closely. Sneaking, she spotted a silhouetted, short figure who was standing with their hands behind their back and wearing a puffy skirt. As the figure stepped closer, Ada saw a little girl with hair curled like cinnamon rolls, a pink silk skirt and a maroon corset. She was having a discussion with a high pitched voice, which seemed very sweet but irritating after a while. " It's Darla," said the girl sweetly to Lord Goth.

DT

In DT we have been designing felt foam cases that we cut and sewed together ourselves- here is a look at what we made. 

In DT this term we made toys using CAMS, small, wooden shapes that when turned and with the help of a follower (in our case a lolly stick) they can enable an object to move. Here are some pictures of the children making the toys and one last picture of our talented children with their finished toy. 

French

In French we have been learning about school. We have completed a crossword puzzle naming all the lessons and then ranked our personal favourites. 

PE

In PE, we have been working on orienteering skill. We have learned to follow and create maps to locate places. Here is one of our treasure maps. 

Geography 

In Geography we have been learning about earthquake, particularly the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco - we looked at the events that took place before, during and after the earthquake. We also looked at the effect the earthquake had as a whole. 

Science 

We have been looking at the planets in our solar system- we made a two page spread about all we learned over this term. 

Music

In music this term, we have been learning to sing and perform songs for our end of term production. We hope you will enjoy watching us perform them in December.

Spring Term

In English this term we have looked at stories from faraway places. In our of the stories we have been looking at tea leaves are essential to the plot so we wrote an advert for tea leaves in our books to showcase our knowledge of expanded noun phrases. 

Art

In art this term we have been looking at drawing faces. We have drawing Fry's face recently with both pencil and charcoal.

At the end of the first half of the spring term, we made some masks using paper mache. We used Fry as our model.

Maths

In Maths we have been learning to add fractions with different, related denominators.

In maths we have been looking at multiplying different numbers- here we have multiplied a 3 digit number by a 2 digit number. 

French

In French, we have been learning to talk about food such as sandwich fillings and ice cream.

Music

In music, we have been learning Adele's Let me Feel your Love. In this photo, we are composing with glockenspiels. We will add our own composition when we perform the song

In PE, we have been improving our basketball skills.

  In indoor PE we have been planning and performing a dance routine based off of dances that were popular during World War 2 

English

In our Shakespeare unit, we performed a scene from Romeo and Juliet.

Computing

As part of Safer Internet Day, we discussed and role played how to stay safe online.

In Computing we have been using a program call Sketch up to design our own houses and rooms. 

PE

We were lucky to take part in a Royal Ballet online live lesson which introduced us to some famous ballets including The Nutcracker and Romeo and Juliet. We performed some dance moves and watched some ballet performed by some famous dancers which amazed us!
