Our topic this term is brand new and all about Climate Change. We are going to be finding out what climate change is, how our waste impacts the sea and what would happen if ecosystems went out of balance. We will finish the half term by thinking about the changes we can make within our school and the wider community to help stop climate change.
In Spring 2 we are going to be putting all of our new found knowledge to the test and become eco warriors! We will be implementing change within our school by helping to save electricity, thinking about reducing our plastic waste, writing letters to Ms Kimpton to convince her of some of our ways to make our school more sustainable. Finally, the term will culminate in a KS1 Climate Change Rally where we will share all of our knowledge and convince others to pledge to save our environment.
Our Geography unit for this term is "The Wider World" and "Kenya". This half term we are focusing on Kenya. We will be continuing our geography work on the human and physical features of our local area by now looking at these features in the country of Kenya. We will be identifying where Kenya is in the world and finding out some key facts about it. This unit will culminate in year two hosting a "trip to Kenya" where we will be inviting some other year groups to fly on Shaw Airways directly to the country of Kenya! Stay tuned for photos of this exciting experience.
