Yellow= Autumn term    Pink= Spring term   Blue= Summer term

We will begin by writing funny animal stories.   We will then delve into the world of superheroes, reading a variety of texts including Super Daisy and Superhero ABC  we will use adjectives, antonyms and punctuation and produce our own comic strips based on invented superheroes.

We will explore traditional tales, exploring settings and characters including Cinderella and Snow White. We will look a sentence punctuation using the classic story if Billy Goats Gruff.

 

After the May half term the children will revisit traditional action rhymes, rounds, songs and nursery rhymes. We will be exploring verbs, homophones, sentence punctuation, role play and writing in character.

The traditional tale of Billy Goats Gruff and the troll who lives under the bridge. How can the Billy Goats pass the troll to reach the sweet-tasting grassy meadow on the other side of the bridge.

In English we will be using the story, We are Going on a Lion hunt, to create our own versions of the story. We will be retelling stories with African themes, using story maps, writing sentences remembering our fingers spaces, capital letters and full stops as well as using our phonics. 

 

After half term, we will read poems and write poems based on our senses. 

We are reading poems that use our 5 senses by various authors selected by Roger McGough. We are working towards writing our own poems using our senses and performing them.

THE 5 SENSES song is a catchy song for kids about "see, hear, smell, taste, touch which links with our previous learning in science.

We will read poems and write rhyming poems. We will also start to work on our comprehension skills using a variety of familiar stories.
