Summer
In science we have been looking at different forces. In this lesson we were measuring air resistance- we did this by making our own parachutes and dropping them from a height. Here is the table we made to show our results.
In maths we have been learning about lines of symmetry. Here is an example of some of our learning
In French we have been learning about holidays. In this lesson were looking at what someone may do on their holidays. Here is an example of our learning.
In English we have been reading short stories by Shaun Tan. In this lesson we used our knowledge of modal verbs to write a sentence predicting what would happen to Eric, a character from one of Shaun Tan stories, after the events of his story. We wrote a sentence and drew a picture to show what could happen.
In Climate Change we have been studying the history of climate change. In this lesson we wrote a paragraph about which era of history we believe contributed the most to climate change.
In Art we have been studying birds in different medias. At the end of our unit we made birds out of paper mache- here is a photo of our birds so far.
Spring
In Outdoor PE we have been learning tennis, here is an example of us refining out agility skills so that we have a better chance of hitting the ball when it is served to us.
In Indoor PE, we have been learning different dances from the world war 2 era, here is a look at some of us practicing.
In music we have been using the glockenspiels to practice and perform a piece of jazz music, here is a look at some of us practicing.
In Computing we have been using the programme Sketch up to make our own houses and rooms, here is a look at our progress so far.
In DT we have been looking to make mechanical toys based on endangered animals using CAMS, here is a design of one of our toys.
In science we have been looking at states of matter. We recently have been looking at rust and how it forms on different metals. We tested this by dipping different nails in different liquids to see which ones form the most rust.
In maths we have been looking at line graphs, here are some examples of our learning.
In English this term we have been looking at William Shakespeare, here is some of us acting out a scene from Macbeth.
In Art we've been making a mask based on our school dog Fry. We started by using paper mache to make the face. We have then planned to paint over the paper mache.
In our climate change lessons we made a whale out of plastic objects in order to demonstrate how much plastic waste can end up in the ocean and the importance of recycling.
In computing we have been looking at internet safety. In this lessons we looked at the importance of passwords and how we can keep our information secure. We then made up our own passwords.
In Outdoor PE we have been learning how to play basketball, in this lesson we were playing a game of basketball.
In this science lesson we were looking at the strength of different of types of paper. We did this by clipping a cup to the different pieces of paper and then we filled the cup with marbles until the paper ripped.
In English we have been writing our own stories set in faraway places. Here is an example of one of our stories.
In maths we have been looking at fractions. In this lesson we looked at fractions and fractions of amounts as a whole and solved problems in relation to those ideas.
Autumn
In Art we have been learning about different North American artists and exploring the different forms of media they have used. Here are some examples of some of the art pieces the children have created throughout the unit.
In Geography we have been learning about North America. Part of our learning included us comparing a European festival to a North American one. Here is an example of that comparison.
In Science we have been learning about the human body and how the body develops as we age. At the end of the unit we created a poster showing all we had learned.
In Citizenship we have been exploring communication, self-respect, stereotyping and families. At the end of the unit we made a poster showing how to maintain a good friendship.
In music we have been learning the theme song from the TV show Fresh Prince of Bel Air. We not only learned to sing the song but also play it on the glockenspiels
In Computing we have been learning about search engines and websites. We were even the task to improve a website ourselves on the computers which we did.
In Outdoor PE we have been learning about orienteering, this involves using compasses and map reading to navigate distances. To further understand the directions on the compass we drew them out on the playground.
In Indoor PE we have bee learning gymnastics, this involves performing jumps, rolls, cartwheels and even handstands.
In English we have been reading the book Goth Girl by Chris Riddell. In order to write our own chapter for Goth Girl we made up our own characters to write into the story. We drew them in our English books.
In Maths we have been working on our adding and subtracting, part of this involved adding whole numbers.
In French we have been learning basic greetings and phrases.
